Adult Introduction to Ballet

No experience is needed! This repeatable series, appropriate for both the novice and the experienced dancer, builds a solid foundational study that is necessary for the progression of ballet proficiency. This course is perfect for those just starting out and for those who seek to deepen their current study. The master always returns to the basics.  Adult Introduction to Ballet gives participants the essential information and tools necessary to safely begin a lifelong journey as a student of ballet.

Beginner Adult Ballet

For students who have completed the Introduction to Ballet series, or are coming back to ballet after some time away. This course emphasizes a strong base technique, and introduces the study of turns, epaulement, adagio, and added stretching.

Intermediate Ballet Variations

Ballet Variations is a term used to describe popular ballet solos. This class is designed for dancers who have studied ballet for several years and are comfortable with a range of vocabulary.  Students will study variations from the classical repertoire suited to their abilities. This class is taught on an intermediate level for those seeking an extra challenge. Pre-Requisite: Students must take Beginner Adult Ballet class first.

SPECIAL NOTE: Students must be simultaneously registered for the beginner adult ballet class prior to the Variations class.

What to Wear

Wear whatever you feel comfortable moving in—think yoga or gym attire. Some dancers enjoy traditional ballet wear like a leotard and tights, while others prefer a t-shirt and leggings. Both are absolutely welcome.

Ballet shoes are required and can be purchased at our local dance store, Dance Trends (Memorial Drive @ Dairy Ashford). Leather or canvas shoes are both great options, and their staff can help you find the right fit. If you don’t have shoes for your first class, socks are perfectly fine to get started.

If you have long hair, please pull it back and up for class.

We also ask that you arrive about five minutes early to get settled in, as late arrivals can be disruptive.
